Long Bay (Okura) is one of my favourite beaches in Auckland. It is about a 2 km walk from the South end to the North end. At low tide from the north end you can walk around the rocks to the next bays.
I decided to explore the South End of the beach and it was late in the afternoon. The tide was mostly out and the sun was starting to set. Looking back towards the north west I saw a different view – a shorter beach, some farmland and the Merc camp had disappeared around the cliff. I was left with an empty beach and a very wet tidal edge.
