2021 and finally allowed out of lock down – to explore. I chose Mt Eden gardens. Tucked on the eastern side of Maungawhau (Mt Eden), as high up as the rd can take you, hidden in the shadow of a cone is a jungle of tranquility and shadows. This is Mt Eden Gardens. Well established and paths going up, down and around – you could easily think you are somewhere else and there was no view – you are in a grotto. Alas, there is a path up the hill and up and up it goes – till finally a clearing into the sun and a view across the harbour to Rangitoto island. Oh, but you have to look through this maple tree first!
