I get a chance at photographing Pohutukawa Flowers once a year. This varies between November and December and is often a ‘roll-the-dice-chance’ whether there are any flowers low to the ground for easy photographing. This one is like it is in mid season- between the buds and the full flourish. Oh, and then the wind! Cripes! the wind makes photographing these flowers even harder! A macro lens isn’t always the answer nor is a deep depth of field. Alas, I captured this one with my mobile phone.
